Along with regular athletes, as a sports dentist, it is important to cater to dental care needs for Para athletes and Special needs athletes as well. NSDC believes in inclusivity. Keeping this in mind, NSDC was the Silver Sponsor of the Para Sports Summit in Bangalore on 11^th-12^th July 2025. This Summit was a premiere event that brought together sports scientists, coaches, athletes, healthcare professionals (including dentists) and industry leaders who are dedicated to advancing performance, health and innovation in Para Sports. NSDC EC team of Dr Sneha Divekar, Dr Aditya Sontakke and Dr Riddhi Joshi went as representatives of NSDC – to know more about the science behind para sports and network for exchange of knowledge and connects with the para sports science and medicine fraternity.

To promote and encourage good oral hygiene care practices among these athletes, NSDC had put on display at the stall of the event electric tooth brush samples and other modified oral hygiene aids which will definitely assist these athletes in the task of brushing. It was especially overwhelming when athletes with limb impairments visited our stall and literally took photos of the samples of the electric toothbrushes; they were thrilled to gain information about these brushes and were definitely planning to buy them as some of them were literally brushing their teeth with their legs!! This event was an eye opener; we as human beings tend to take so many things of daily living for granted and brushing is such daily mundane activity that we can tend to forget the importance of it! NSDC team was really glad they could be of help to these athletes and their caregivers. The icing on the cake was getting the chance to meet Mrs Deepa Malik, one of the top para-athletes in the country and her daughter Devika Malik! In short one amazing event where NSDC members gained lot of knowledge and insights!
