Specialized Sports Dentistry Training
Engage in or refer to masters programs to gain expertise in managing sports-related dental injuries, fabricating custom mouthguards, and understanding the oral health needs of athletes.
Collaboration & Consultation
Work closely with sports medicine experts, sports organizations, athletes, and coaches to provide comprehensive oral healthcare.
Preventive Services
Offer pre-season dental screenings, oral health education, and fabrication of properly fitting custom mouthguards.
Treatment of Dental Injuries
Provide prompt and effective treatment for sports-related dental trauma.
Research & Advocacy
Participate in or support research in sports dentistry and advocate for the integration of oral health in sports.
Dietary Advice Collaboration
Work with sports nutritionists to balance an athlete’s dietary needs with their oral health requirements, advising on minimizing risks from sugary or acidic sports foods/drinks.
Emergency Care Preparedness
Be available for or train allied personnel (physicians, nurses, paramedics with teams) in emergency dental care at sporting events.
