The main mission of NSDC is to have dentist members across the country and to have city-wise/region-wise chapters so that there is uniformity and standardization in catering to athlete oral health. Encouraging dentist members to understand more about sports dentistry and carry out dental care activities for athletes is the main motive of NSDC. Keeping this in mind, NSDC had planned a Pan India Oral Health and Mouthguard Drive and we are happy to announce that 12-13 dentist across the country have participated in this and successfully conducted events for athletes.

The Drive Consisted of 4 Activities for Athletes:

Awareness lectures – NSDC members across the country conducted awareness programs for athletes regarding many topics important for their oral health.

Dental screenings – NSDC members did dental screenings in different schools, sports clubs and sports organizations in different places to motivate athlete and parents for preventive dental care and treatments.

Mouthguard Drives – For various contact sports, athletes were explained about types of customized mouthguards, and were encouraged to use customized mouthguards which the dentists fabricated. Some members have also started using intra-oral scanners for a better fit and better work flow.

Demos of Kits & Oral hygiene techniques – NSDC members make athletes understand how to use dental first aid kits, oral care kits and show correct oral hygiene methods and explain about different oral hygiene aids.
