1.Day 1 – Pre-Conference workshop

Day 1 of the 1^st National Conference on Sports Dentistry had an amazing list of pre-conference workshops – Mouthguards and Dental trauma first aid kit by Dr. Sneha Divekar wherein she explained and demonstrated the type of mouthguards and dental trauma kit; Basic Life Support Workshop for dentists wherein the expert Sports Medicine physician Dr. Kiran Kulkarni demonstrated how to do CPR and narrated some interesting incidents; followed by Dr. Abhishek Bhattacharya who showed the techniques of Conscious Sedation on his machine ConSed. Great food, amazing interaction among the participants and after thoroughly enjoying all the 3 workshops, the participants were felicitated and given their certificates. This event has marked the rising interest that different people have in sports dentistry and what all does it encompasses!

2.Day 1 – Paper/poster presentations

The conference received an overwhelming response from students of various dental colleges across Pune. With students participating in both paper and poster presentations and within just few days we had received nearly 20 registrations. The topics that presented were all related to sports dentistry and it was heartening to see both UG and PG students taking efforts to present their respective topics in co-relation to sports dentistry. Establishing the clinical relevance further enhances the interest in the younger generation of dentists about sports dentistry and this event did just that!

3.Day 2 – Inauguration and Morning Session

Day 2 was the main conference event and saw a stalwart of speakers in the morning session from both dentistry and sports medicine – Dr. Richa Kulkarni, Dr. Jayesh Rahalkar, Dr. Sanjay Jain, Prof. Dobson Dominic and Dr. Kiran Kulkarni! With Varied topics and interesting takeaways, the audiences were glued to their seats. Also the highlight was the Inauguration Ceremony which was graced by our Gold sponsors and Silver sponsors, our special guests for the day from the sports industry, sports medicine and dentistry and our advisory board members who are there forever to support us. All the dignitaries were felicitated and they remained seated even till post lunch as they found the lecture sessions very intriguing and interesting! This kind of amazing response ensures us that we are making the right choices and going the right path!

4.Day 2 – Afternoon Session and Closing Ceremony

Afternoon Session of Day 2 began with a bang with our international speaker Dr Stavros Avgerinos lecture, followed by Dr. Amar Katre, Gaurav Nijhon, Dr. Shail Jaggi and Dr. Andrea Judice lecture. Each speaker brought their unique perspectives to sports dentistry and each topic was an eye opener as to how sports and oral health is co-related. At the end, Closing ceremony comprised of prize distribution for the previous day’s paper/poster presentation results, group photo sessions and high tea. Each and everyone congratulated the core team on conducting a successful conference and applauded our efforts for initiating the 1^st national event of this magnitude in the country on sports dentistry!
