NSDC presented a Unique event – Sports Dentistry and Sports Science Conclave Feb 2025

This unique wherein sports dentistry and sports science professionals were gathered together was a resounding success! It was a well-structured program wherein there were 4 individual speakers on various aspects of sports science and sports dentistry followed by an elaborate panel discussion. Dr. Geetanjali Bhide, a Senior Sports and Fitness Nutritionist, spoke about key aspects of sports nutrition and her experience of last 25yrs in the sports industry. Dr. Richa Kulkarni, a well- renowned sports physiotherapist who has been part of various international sports events gave her insight of what is sports physiotherapy, what it encompasses and her experiences at the various international events that she attended. Gaurav Nijohn is a Strength and Conditioning Coach and was part of the Support Staff for the Indian contingent that went for the Paris 2024 Olympics. He gave the audience about his experiences of being part of such big international events and what we can learn from them. Dr Sneha Divekar, gave an insight to the audience about Sports Dentistry – what is it all about, how it is evolving in India and what steps is NSDC taking to make sure that the message of athlete dental care spreads at all levels. After all the speakers were done, all the people in the audience were given a chance to introduce themselves. This was followed by a panel discussion on Oral health and its various co-relations with general health aspects of athlete, esp. related to sports. The audience found it quite interesting and intriguing, many queries were raised and discussed upon various aspects inter-linking sports dentistry and sports science. The enthusiasm to understand more increased so much that finally the panel discussion had to be stopped due to paucity of time. Everyone had a good networking over breakfast session and it made all realize the need to have such events on a larger scale. Also, this event was graced by one of the Honorary Advisory board members Dr. Jayesh Rahalkar who felicitated the speakers. Everyone applauded the efforts of NSDC EC team to take the task of bringing all the people under one roof!! NSDC Brochure was inaugurated by the chief guest and the speakers during the felicitation program.
